Union Street Business Association & Africatown Seattle invites you to A Conversation about Culture, Community and the Future of Seattle’s 23rd and Union

This is a follow up meeting to the Feb. 14th meeting and will feature presentation of drawings and models completed by UW architecture students led by Dr. Sharon Sutton.

Come find out what’s happening at 23rd & Union and bring your ideas to the table!

Background:

For the past three years a group of dedicated community members, MidTown Center business owners and the Union Street Business Association has been involved in imagining a future for23rd and Union as:

-A vibrant neighborhood-scaled commercial district that respects this area’s history and historic character and protects small businesses

-A multicultural center that welcomes all people while serving as the heart of the African-American community

-More shops and services that serve the community with higher-paying jobs, new business opportunities and the prospect of commercial and residential property ownership

-Mixed use development that could include live-work units and business start-up opportunities.

-Affordable housing

-More gathering spaces, open space and green space –

How can we work together to make this vision a reality?
